Board of Directors
The Board of Directors comprises individuals with wide ranging expertise and diverse backgrounds. They are duly elected by our membership. The Board sets the strategic direction of the Society, ensuring alignment with long-term goals and market trends.
It provides a vision that guides the Society towards sustainable growth and innovation. Our directors promote a culture of ethical behavior and corporate social responsibility. They lead by example, ensuring that the Society conducts its business with integrity and fairness.
A key function of the Board is to establish robust governance practices. It ensures transparency, accountability and ethical behavior across all levels of the Society, fostering trust among investors, its members and regulators.
John R. S. Skerritt

John R. S. Skerritt
Mr John Skerritt, CBE, MSc, BBA, ACC, C. Dir. has served as Chairman of the Montserrat Building Society Ltd from January 2022. Mr Skerritt has experience in both the private and public sectors and is trained in business administration and public economics. Mr Skerritt is a former Financial Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Management, Montserrat.
Currently, he is the Managing Partner at Guardian Business and Accounting Services.
Mr Skerritt’s extensive background in finance and public sector management brings a wealth of experience to the Board.
Jean E. H. Kelsick

Jean E. H. Kelsick
Mr Kelsick was first appointed as a director to the board in 2014 and assumed the role of Secretary/Treasurer later that year.
He is an attorney at law in private practice since 1986. He has extensive experience in representing banks and other commercial entities generally. He acted as Montserrat’s Chief Magistrate in the past and represented Barclays Bank until it withdrew from Montserrat in 1997. He is a former director of Montserrat’s Financial Services Commission and a former member of the Public Service Commission.
Mr Kelsick’s extensive legal background bolsters the Society’s corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
Amanda Osborne-Cabey

Amanda Osborne-Cabey
Mrs. Amanda Osborne-Cabey has over 14 years’ experience in business operations and strategic planning. As the Shipping and Administration Manager of M.S.Osborne Ltd., Mrs. Osborne-Cabey demonstrates expertise and flexibility in managing a diverse portfolio of responsibilities. She fosters and manages relationships with international partners and suppliers, ensuring the supply of critical inventory to the island, including building supplies and wholesale food products. Mrs. Osborne-Cabey oversees all human resources and customer service matters for the company, as well as participating in financial planning and budgetary projections. She has also served in managerial roles at the Montserrat Cultural Center and the Vue Point Hotel.
Over 10 years of Mrs. Osborne-Cabey’s life were dedicated to teaching in both the United States and Montserrat. Today, she continues to teach and mentor young people as a moderator for the Catholic Youth community.
With her education and experience, Mrs. Osborne-Cabey brings an excellent balance of expertise, knowledge and emotional intelligence to her role as a member of the Board.
Kendall W. Lee
Assistant Secretary/Treasurer

Kendall W. Lee
Currently appointed as Assistant Secretary and as a member of the Management Sub-Committee of the Montserrat Building Society Board, Mr Lee’s initial appointment began in 2005.
Mr. Kendall Lee is an electrical engineer by training and started his career at the Montserrat Electricity Services Limited (MONLEC) in August 1986. Hence, he has been in the electric utility industry on Montserrat for the last 38 years, first at MONLEC and now at Montserrat Utilities Limited, or MUL.
Mr Lee has had appointments of Assistant Engineer, Transmission and Distribution Engineer at Montserrat Electricity Services Ltd and Electricity Manager and Managing Director at Montserrat Utilities limited until his retirement in February 2023. He continues to work at Montserrat Utilities Limited in a transitional role as head of the Electricity Department of the company.
As the longest serving member of the Society’s Board Mr Lee has invaluable institutional knowledge and boardroom experience, which provides critical insight and expertise to ensure the Society remains committed to its core business model.
Beverley Edwards-Gumbs

Beverley Edwards-Gumbs
Beverley Edwards-Gumbs has worked in the Financial Services Sector for over 34 years with a wealth of over 31 years of Central Banking experience.
During her tenure at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) she has had extensive training particularly in the area of payment systems, and was a member of the team that conducted a joint study of payment systems in the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) undertaken by the Commonwealth Secretariat, the World Bank and the ECCB. The study was carried out as part of the OECS Financial Sector Review being undertaken by the World Bank, with a view to identifying and creating a framework for the development of the sector, in which effective payment systems were a crucial component.
Training exposure and/or attachments include the Bank of England; Federal Reserve Bank, and Euromoney, New York; Centre for Latin America Monetary Studies (CEMLA); Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago; and Central Bank of the Netherlands Antilles.
She has held several senior positions at the ECCB including Manager of Payments and Settlements, Banking and Monetary Operations Department; Deputy Director, Support Services Management Department with responsibility for the Facilities Engineering Unit; and Deputy Director, Corporate Relations Department.
Mrs Edwards-Gumbs is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario, London, Canada, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Administrative and Commercial Studies with areas of concentration in Finance and Economics. She is also an Associate of the Institute of Canadian Bankers (AICB).

Founded to assist Montserratians at home and abroad to own and build their own homes.
1969
Home built by one of the first 25 mortgagors.
1983
After 16 years of renting space in the then Wade Inn building, the Society built and moved here.
